Day 31

I can't believe our 30-Day Challenge is OVER!!!! It went by so quick, and yet, not really! :) It was a fun month for me though. It was good for me to count my calories again and get me back on track (and off that much sugar!) 

I did NOT get to my goal weight loss of 10 pounds. I am pretty confident that I would have if I would have done a better job in Seattle, (since I only needed to lose 1.5 pounds this week) But since I caved and ate too many popcorn salt water taffy's and ate at the Cheesecake Factory! I did not hit my original goal! I DID however, lose 8 POUNDS and managed to keep it all off! So I am happy with losing 8 pounds in 30 days!!! Now I just need to lose 11 more pounds to be at my ideal body weight! :) Anyone up to another 30 day challenge???! :) 

Beginning Body Weight: 156

Ending Body Weight: 148

Total Weight lost in 30 days: 8 pounds! :)


I feel better, and healthier than at the beginning of this month! Plus I like the habit Mike and I have gotten into with walking every night. That is one that we will keep doing! (He likes it as well) :)

Day 30

Exercise:
* Mike and I went on a 38 minute brisk walk tonight. (I'm still recovering a little bit from my cold and congestion, so I skipped my strength training exercises that I would normally do today) 

Calories:
* I was a little over on my calories today, but not too bad. I ended the day right at 1880 Calories.


I am feeling better than I was earlier this week. I am getting back on my normal routine of exercise & health(ier) eating (I still enjoy my frozen Reese's Peanut Butter Cup daily). I feel like I will definitely loose my 1/2 pound that I gained this week though! :) I have gotten to really enjoy my evening walk with Mike too! (Thank goodness for our responsible 12 year old) :) I can't believe tomorrow is our last day of this challenge!!!

Day 29

HAPPY WEIGH-IN DAY!!!

I hope everyone had a successful weigh-in day! I unfortunately did NOT! Seattle really did me in! I actually GAINED 1/2 pound!!!! I weighed 148.3! YIKES!


Exercise:
* none..... I have a sinus/head cold and lazed around the house most the day.... :( #imlame

Calories:
* I am at 2,000 calories for the day! I made chocolate chip cookies for Livia's yw activity and I sampled a little too many! Plus I find that I'm having such a hard time getting back on track after Seattle! Dang! :-/


The last couple of days I have been super lame, esp with GAINING a half of a pound! Jeesh! My head is starting to feel better though, so I KNOW tomorrow will be better! :)

Day 28

Exercise:
* Mike & I (and Brooky) went on a long but slower walk today. Our average mph was 2.3 (I told you it was slower!) :) We try to average at least 3.5! But we still walked for 50 minutes, burning around 120 calories.


Calories:
* Mike and I decided to fast today, which made counting my calories pretty easy today! :) I still managed to get up to 1600 calories though!!!

I feel like I am getting a head cold! :*(

Day 27

Exercise:
* Today, we traveled home from Seattle. So more sitting, but Mike & I did go on our walk when we got home. We walked 35 minutes, burning 140 calories.

Calories:
* I consumed 1883 calories for the day. 

I don't feel very healthy though. The calories I ate today were a lot of chips, cracker, and salt water taffy! (darn the popcorn flavored taffy! SO GOOD) So I wasn't too bad over, but of the calories I consumed, I don't feel like they have helped out today. Pooh! :-/ Thank goodness we are home and I can get back on track! Now lets just hope I don't gain for Wednesday's weigh-in!

* We walked on a beach with Beth's family, and that's about all the exercise I did today.

* Today is Sunday, so I did not count my calories, but I bet I was over my 1800 calorie allotment.

Day 25

Exercise:
* I walked on the beach with the kids for a few minutes? 
* I ran on the beach for 3 minutes?
* I helped a guy get his car un-stuck in the sand, by pushing the car with Mike & Tara?
(Does any of those count??)

Calories:
* I started counting my calories for breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and I was at 1334, but then Mike and I went to The Cheesecake Factory! I ordered the Fried Macaroni & Cheese Balls (Which came with 4 balls, and totaled 1500 (375 per ball!!!) I consumed 2.5 of those! Sooo good!! Then I ate a small house salad, with Caesar dressing (no idea, but I know dressing is a lot), and then I finished it off with a snickers cheesecake, which was another 1500 calories! YIKES! (I only ate half tonight, but I know I'll finish the other half tomorrow) :) Total Calories: A LOT!!!

I feel.... not very good, and greasy!

Day 24

Exercise:
* Today we left for Seattle to visit Tara and Tamara for our 4-Day Memorial Day Weekend. We rode A LOT in the car, since we decided to keep going on to the Ocean at Ocean Shores. The only exercise I got all day long, was some light swimming with the family that night at the Motel.


Calories:
* I tried to be good and count my calories while traveling..... man, it was harder to eat healthy on the road, than I thought it would be! According to my calculations, I consumed 1944 calories, so I was over today by 144 calories, plus with no exercise.... not a good day! 


I feel...... blah... and VERY SORE from my boot camp class yesterday! I got progressively more sore with each rest area! :)

* Vigorous Weight Lifting for 45 minutes (Boot Camp Class) burning 300 calories
* Walked with Mike for 40 minutes burning 150 calories

* I consumed 1752 calories for the day. Pretty good! :)


I feel good. I feel like I did good in my boot camp class today, and had the energy I needed to complete the workout, walk with Mike, and pack things up to get ready to leave for Seattle. I'm excited to be close to my goal of 10 pounds lost! :)

DAY 22 -- WEIGH-IN DAY

Happy Weigh-In Day Everyone! (Or just myself, since I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who looks at this blog, but that's okay.... it's kind-of like my own personal fitness journal, it helps get me through the day knowing that I have to record my daily progress) :) 

It was a good weigh-in day for me! I weighed 147.8, so that is about 1.5 pounds down from last week! I have lost a total of 8.2 pounds in three weeks! I am very happy with that number! :) 

Exercise:
* Today was even worse than yesterday, weather wise! It rained, snowed, and showed the sun in short spurts! And it was incredibly COLD! Sydney ended up playing in her soccer game tonight, and it was such a cold game!!! (Later, when the sun finally decided to poke out, Livia was at mutual, so we didn't have our regular babysitter! :) Hence, Mike and I did not get to go on our walk again!! BIG BUMMER!! I was able to do about 15-20 minutes of strength training exercises today though. But no cardio! :(

Calories:
* Today was the worse day as far as my eating went! I celebrated a friends birthday at Gambino's Italian Restaurant  I ordered their lunch special, which was soup, salad, and a huge garlic twist. (all for 6$, GREAT deal) I only ate half my salad, and had them put the dressing on the side, only eating half of it. They brought me a cup of split pea and ham soup. It was pretty good, but not good enough to finish it, so I only ate about half of that as well. Then there is their infamous HUGE garlic twists that are to die for! (with maranara sauce). I shared that with Brooklyn, plus I left a little on my plate so I figure, I ate about 2/3 of that. Of course water to drink! :) I also had one of the cupcakes (the ones I was bragging about not eating yesterday), PLUS 2 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups!!! I KNOW!!!! I did AWFUL!!! I'm not sure what my deal was! I did eat pretty good for lunch and dinner though. :\ But after all said and done, I TRIED to figure out my calories (not knowing for sure the calories from my lunch at the restaurant), I'm guessing I ended the day with 2099 calories!

I feel tired today. I felt hungry today. I'm glad I lost weight last week though. I need to continue to stay strong for this last week, so I can attain my goal of 10 pounds by May 31....

Day 21

Exercise:
* I did not get to go on a walk with Mike today! :( It was a yucky day, and I was busy with a church activity that I was in charge of during the evening. I felt busy all day though! I was cooking a lot of dessert stuff for church, along with craft stuff. Aside from the running around trying to get everything together for my activity, along with loading things to and from the church, that is all the exercise I got for the day! :O

Calories:
* I consumed 1761 calories. (I didn't even eat ANY of the cupcakes I made for the church activity!)  :)


I feel good. I am tired today, but I think that's from being on my feet all day, and doing my busy little "stuff" :)

Exercise:
* I did strength training exercises (vigorous) for 20 minutes, burning 125 calories
* Mike and I walked for 50 minutes, burning 205 calories

Total Calorie Burn: 330 Calories


Calories: I consumed 1763 calories for the day.


I felt good today. I felt strong, healthy, and skinnier! :) Hopefully that's a good sign for Wednesday's weigh-in! :-)

Day 19

Exercise:
* Mike and I walked for 2.60 miles in 50 minutes tonight. The sky was beautiful! :)


Calories:
* Since it is Sunday again, I did not have to count my calories! I LOVE MY CHEAT DAY! I still tried to eat smart though. I did however go to Heather's house for some birthday cake (Dairy Queen's Ice Cream Cake), but I had Jeff cut me a small piece! :) I'm pretty sure I'm still under 2,000 calories for the day though. 


I'm excited to start the week. I am going to try to be very good with my exercise and eating so that on Wednesday I will hopefully be down 2 more pounds!! YAY for the 40's!!! :)

Day 18

Exercise:
* This morning I went on a hike with the youth from my stake. We hiked up on Moscow Mountain, for 1 hour, covering 3.77 miles. I burned about 370 calories. (Mike came with me, so we didn't do our evening walk) :)

Total Calorie Burn: 370 Calories

Calories:
* I hope my calories are accurate for the day. I ate at La Casa Lopez tonight and ordered a shredded chicken taco salad. But I tried to be a good girl, and I did not have any sour cream, guacamole, or dressing (I used salsa). Plus I only ate a few bites of the shell. (Like 3, that's it) :) I did eat a few chips and black bean dip, but I only had 7 chips! :) Anyways, I wasn't sure how to calculate that, so I kind-of guessed at 600 calories. Honestly, I think 600 might even be high, but better to be too high than too low, right? I even ate an ice cream cone and a cookie today! Jeesh... but I accounted for everything! :)

So my totally calorie count was 1825 calories.


I am feeling good. I am just hoping that I am somewhat close to my projected calories for the day! :)

Day 17

Exercise:
* I did about 20 minutes of vigorous strength training today (huge tire flips, bar pull-ups, BB push-presses) :) burning about 95 calories.
* Mike and I also did our nightly walk together (I love having a responsible 12 year old who doesn't mind babysitting) :) We walked for 45 minutes and burned 185 calories.  

Total Daily Calorie Burn: 280


Calories: 
* I consumed 1891 Calories for the day.


I feel really good. I felt really strong as I was doing my heavier lifts today! :) But the calorie counting seem to be getting easier and it wasn't as hard today to stick to my 1800 calorie allotment. I hope I am being accurate with my calories. :)

Today was the HARDEST day by far!!! I wanted sugar and chocolate ALL DAY LONG!! It was so hard to be diligent, but I managed.... somehow, to stay on course! Hallelujah! :)

Day 15 -- HALF WAY!!!

Today was weigh-in day!!!
* I hope everyone had a successful weigh-in! I did better than I thought I would. I lost 2 pounds! So that makes my total weight loss = 6 pounds in 15 days. I'm VERY happy with that! :)


Exercise:
* I deep-cleaned my house today for about 2 hours, (yes, I was hot and sweaty) :) I burned 297 Calories
* I taught some youth a fitness routine, and then running through it with them, for about 20 minutes, burning around 50 calories.


Calories:
* I was a little over, I consumed 1949 Calories.


I had a headache and sinus pressure today, that seemed to get worse as the day progressed. :(

* I ran on the treadmill for 20 minutes, burning 204 Calories (it was a pretty slow run) :)
* I went walking with Mike for 50 minutes, burning another 204 Calories

* I was a little too under for my calories today, (not intentionally), but I consumed 1553 Calories. 

I'm still feeling pretty good as far as my eating and activity go. :)

Exercise:
* Elliptical machine at the gym for 15 minutes = 130 calories
* Taught my HIIT calss, which kicked my own butt = 248 calories
* Went on a evening walk with Mike for 30 minutes = 123 calories

* I was under today. I consumed 1621 calories. I even made pizza for dinner, and each slice was only 242 calories! :)



Today, was a good day for me. I am feeling the effects of cutting down on my sugar and eating healthier. I feel stronger, and more energetic. Plus, I like walking with Mike right after dinner because I feel like it gives me more energy in the evenings, and helps to digest my dinner faster. :)

Day 12

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Exercise: 
* Since it was mother's day, I got to chose what we did for the day, so I chose a family hike up on Moscow Mountain! :) We hiked 3 miles for 75 minutes! We hiked pretty slow since we had Brooky with us, plus some friends came with us with another 2 year old as well. But it was a great hike, with beautiful weather! :) 

* Livia and I also went on a 1 mile walk earlier for 20 minutes, burning about 50 calories. :)

Total calorie burn: 514 calories! :)

Calories:
*Today was Sunday, so of course, I did not record my calories. I tried to eat pretty good still, but being Mother's day, I was spoiled with lots of yummy breakfast foods and chocolates!!! :)


I'm still feeling pretty good, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna loose too much weight this week. I've not been feeling very skinny this week! :)

Tara and Tamara - Day #11

Today was so beautiful and busy.  It was hard to fit in the full 30 minutes.  We finally made it to the gym at 7:40 and was told they closed at 8:00 :(  We ran to the treadmills and worked out hard for the full 15 minutes we had.  Then we cooled off outside and shopping.  Does that count? 

Anyways, I've lost 3.0 pounds so far and feel great!

Day 11

Exercise:
* uuuuummmmmmm....... Farmers Market & mall shopping with the girls for a couple of hours???? I'm sorry, but I'm not quite sure what happened. I was planning on doing more, and we were going to go on an evening walk again, but then Mike talked me into going to the movies and seeing Iron Man 3 at the last minute instead! :( But I did GREAT on my calories all day, (well, I still got my delicious sisters cookie at farmers market, but I made sure it was accounted for in my calorie budget) :) PLUS, I didn't order ANY popcorn at the movies (nor did I let Mike or David) :) 

Calories:
* I was under my calories for the day, which was 1670 (which included a frozen Reese's Peanut Butter Cup at the movie) Yea, I am that awesome! :) haha


I feel good, although I would've felt better if I went on a walk! Oh well. Tomorrow... :)

Day 10

Exercise:
* I taught a 30 minute HIIT class burning around 220 calories
* I biked to Sydney's school and back, totaling 15 minutes; burning 167 miles
* Then we went on a family walk for 45 minutes, burning 111 calories

Total Calories burned: 495 Calories

Calories:
* I was over my mark by 100 calories. I consumed a total of 1909 calories for the day. But on a side not everyone wanted to go to Baskin Robbins, and after discovering that each scoop is around 300 calories! I was a good girl and got the Pina Colada ice for only 120 calories. (pat on my back) :)

I feel good, but as the week is coming to an end I feel like I need to step it up on my cardio. :-/

Day 9

Exercise:
* Mike and I walked for 30 minutes, for 1.60 miles.

Calories:
* I felt hungry all day long. I'm not sure why. But I even ate 2 lunches! :( Therefore, my calories were 1990!!


I wish I could've done more than just walking today, but now I will just have to push it extra hard in my HIIT class tomorrow! Plus, I'm trying to convince everyone to go on a hike on Moscow Mountain with me tomorrow, so hopefully that will make up for today! :)

WEEK 1 COMPLETE!!! YAY (3 more weeks to go!)

I weighed in today!!!

I was excited to weigh in because I felt like I had a good week. My goal was to lose 2 pounds, and I LOST 4 POUNDS!!! WOO HOO!!! Mike and I BOTH actually lost 4 pounds! We both did GREAT! I now weight 151 !!! :) I'm glad that I had such a good week, because it gave me a boost to keep going strong today, and for the rest of the week I think! :)


Exercise:
* Walked on the treadmill for 1 mile - 82 calories
* Ran on the treadmill for 2 miles - 218 calories
* 15-20 minutes of heavy weight lifting (lower body)
* Stationary Row Machine for a whopping 5 minutes - 24 calories
* Walked with Mike for 25 minutes - 102 calories

Total Calorie Burn: 518 Calories!

Calories:
* I ate 1720 Calories for the day. Pretty good and under my allotment, but not too low. I'm a happy girl! :)

* 15-20 minutes of heavy weight lifting (Lower Body), burning 93 calories.

* I was actually UNDER my calories today! A very rare occasion! I consumed 1660 calories for the day.

I feel really good. I feel like walking with Mike is boosting my energy level in the evenings, and I like walking after dinner, to help digest my food faster! :)

* Went on a walk with Mike for 35 minutes around the neighborhood, burning 143 calories. (I couldn't teach my HIIT class since Brooklyn was still sick)  :(

* I consumed 1950 calories for the day. (a little over but still under 2000) :)

I feel good. Just a little tired of taking care of a sick baby, and ready to get back to our regular routine. :)

Day 5

Today was Sunday.....

I've decided that on Sunday's I will NOT be logging my calories. Sunday's will be my "cheat day" or my one day off from counting, but I will still try to eat "Smart". Plus, this was fast Sunday, so I am pretty sure I didn't consume 1800 calories in one meal! hahaha :)

Brooklyn was sick ALL weekend long with really high fevers (*scary*) and Sunday she seemed extra needy, so I did not get my evening walk in (*shame*) :( The only form of exercise I did on Sunday was dig in the ground for about 15 minutes, trying to dig up some really old chicken coop wire so I could re-plant my tomatoes that were dying because the first spot apparently never got any sun..... go figure!

Day 4

Exercise:
* Did yard work for at least 1 1/2 hours, which involved raking (sticks and brush not leaves) and making 2 big brush piles. Cutting down and moving very thorny bushes, and digging up some roots. Burned about 315 calories.

* Went on a long walk with Mike and his dad David for 65 minutes, through a field and over some hills, burning 266 calories.

Total Calorie Burn: 578

Calories:
* I was proud of myself yesterday because while I was over my calories, Saturday & Sunday's are usually where I get into the most trouble . I did by a Sister's Cookie at farmers market (SO GOOD and SO WORTH IT)! :) I consumed 2027 calories for the whole day. :)

I feel good. I feel like I have the energy I need, plus the sunshine is increasing and the weather is finally getting into the 70's so it helps boost my spirits! :)

Day 3

Exercise: 
* 40 min HIIT class (High Intensity Interval Training) which I taught; Super Hard Workout! Today we did AMRAPS (As Many Rounds As Possible) :)
* 30 min walk with Mike. We walked 1.74 miles. (got stopped for abt 5 min again talking to a friend) :)

Food:
* Calories were a little over again, 1950 Calories. I was proud of myself for turning down the popcorn that everyone else was eating tonight though, which smelled delicious, but I still was over for the day! :(

I felt a little tired and heavy today, but not too bad. (I think that has Brooky to blame though. She is sick with a fever today and kept me up a lot last night.) My lower/middle back is sore today from the Deadlifts I did yesterday; but sore in a good way! :) My calves feel better though. :)

Exercise:
* 20 min of Strength Training: LEGS DAY! (I lifted heavier today, 6-8 reps)
* 30 min walk with Mike on a hilly loop around our neighborhood, including a section that has 82 stairs! :) We went 1.71 miles (we stopped to talk to some friends along the way for a good 5 minutes!) :)

Food:
* Not as good today. I felt hungry all day! I ate 2115 calories! :(

I'm still feeling good though. My calves are sore from step yesterday though. It's been awhile since I've done step. :)

30 Day Challenge Started Today!

MAY 1 - MAY 30, 2013

Guidelines: 
You must move and be active for a minimum of 30 minutes every day! Even on Sunday's! Even if it's just a family walk! Long with eating smart. No late night snacking! Avoid sugars and simple carbs. Eat often but eat smaller portions!

Personal Goals:
I'm going to be counting my calories again; and I am going to try to keep them around 1800 caloires! I am going to get 30-60 minutes of physical activity every day! I had a starting weight of 156! I am going to try to lose 10 pounds in this 30 days. There is just a little over 4 weeks in May, which means I need to try to lose slightly above 2 pounds every week!
